Results 1 to 12 of Thread: Which Paiste cymbals should I get? Which Paiste cymbals should I get? Since selling my Yamaha kit and everything with it I am planning out a new kit to buy early next year. Now for cymbals I want to go with Paiste.
I am going to look for used one since Paiste is so expensive new,but the China's will probably be new since they are hard to find used. So I need suggestions on a ride,10" splash and Crashes. Ideally I'd like 2 18's and a 17" and that would be it for the kit.
Not going to have 20 cymbals like on my Yamaha it. Keeping it small. I am getting an Pearl Icon rack. Already have the Hi hat stand Snare stand and Double pedals picked out. Going with the Iron Cobra 's. They have treated me well. I'll also have my pair of Octobans and Pearl Snare on this kit.
So some help with the cymbals listed above would be appreciated. I play mostly rock music. I am kinda sketchy about Paiste cymbals but since I am not a heavy hitter,I think they will work out great for me,plus going used,it won't cost as much to replace if I happened to crack one. I wasn't going to get another kit and just stop playing all together, but I'm addicted and tax time can't come soon enough.

But most of all I am happiest with my 2oo2's.. That Paiste distinctness is just so beautiful.. Clarity and smoothness just leaves all others behind. I tire of zildjians so quickly and i have tried so hard to like them.. Sabian have models i like but again they do not capture my sonic imagination. I have visited Nottwill and the Paiste plant 3 times and they put as much into thier cymbals as they do thier precission swiss watches.. I love Paiste.. This is a rather interesting, introductory comparison video of various Paiste lines: Paiste Comparison Video.
Paiste's high end cymbals are WELL worth the expense, especially if you find them lightly used or new for a good price. Signature series in general is amazing.
Fast forward to now I own ed one Zildjian the entire time. I can't get around the fact that I love their product. I've probably bought the last 5 Paistes I own used. Their consistency really helps boost confidence in my online purchasing. My "best" find Paiste18 Active Member. I have always played Paiste. Back in the late 90's I had a full set of Signatures that I about went broke buying, and sold them like an idiot.
When I got back into drumming about 11 years ago I bought a full set of Paiste Alpha's. Moved into a condo and sold them again. Which again was incredibly stupid on my part. I have never been a real fan of cymbals packs but because I spent so much on my kit I had to cut costs. They sound amazing. So that's really not a huge investment. Now I have since switched over to the Paiste Big Beats.
I still can't justify the Signature costs, but the Big Beats are a professional sounding cymbal in everyway. I think this is going to be my ending point.
They sound amazing and I will most likely use them for my live applications. That is not a huge investment to join the Paiste family. With an explosive and warm response, the cymbals will deliver you exceptional cuts and projections.
